Who we are
This website is run by Your CMO, a fractional marketing consultancy run by Laura Baxter and operated as a sole trader. We are the data controller for the personal information collected through yourcmo.co.uk. If you have any questions about this policy or how we use your information, email laura@yourcmo.co.uk. Your CMO is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) under registration number ZC279675.
What we collect and why
- Enquiries. If you email us or use a contact or waitlist form, we collect your name, email address, organisation and anything you choose to tell us. We use it to reply, to discuss and deliver work, and to keep a record of our conversation. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, or steps taken at your request before entering into a contract.
- Clients. If you become a client, we hold contact, project and billing details needed to deliver the work and meet our accounting and tax obligations. Lawful basis: contract and legal obligation.
- Email updates. If you sign up for updates, we use your email address to send them. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. Lawful basis: consent.
- Website analytics. With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, approximate location, device and referral source). It only runs if you click Accept on our cookie banner. Lawful basis: consent.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider and security tools process IP addresses and server logs to keep the site running and secure. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to make the site work and to remember your cookie choice. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, under contracts that require them to protect it: our website host (Hostinger), email and productivity tools, our email marketing platform, Google (analytics, only with consent), and our accountant. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
International transfers
Some of these providers store data outside the UK, including in the US. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don’t lead to work: up to 2 years from our last contact.
- Client records and invoices: 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as required for HMRC.
- Email updates: until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics data: 14 months (Google Analytics retention setting).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To make a request, email laura@yourcmo.co.uk. We will respond within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
